North East Oxford Neighbourhood Team – Weekly Activity Overview
It’s been another busy week for the North East Oxford Neighbourhood Team, and we’ve certainly covered a lot of ground.
A male previously charged and bailed for shoplifting — with clear conditions not to enter Iceland — decided to return the very next day and try again. Unsurprisingly, this earned him a swift re‑arrest, new charges, and a trip straight to remand. 🎯
A 16‑year‑old male attempted to evade officers on a Sur‑ron, but thanks to excellent teamwork from the Roads Policing Unit, Dog Section, Oxford Neighbourhood Teams, Drone Unit and CID, his getaway was short‑lived. He was arrested and charged with PWITS Class A (heroin), PWITS Class B (amphetamine) and money‑laundering offences. He now sits on remand, and the Sur‑ron sits in our compound. 🚓
A 14‑year‑old male was arrested for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. He has been bailed while our investigation continues. 📄
Another 16‑year‑old male was also arrested for being concerned in supplying Class A drugs. After being bailed, he was then charged and remanded for breaching his EMS curfew tag — clearly not his best decision of the week. ⏰
Two stolen motorbikes were recovered and returned to where they belong — with their rightful owners, not out on the streets. 🏍️
We issued a community resolution for a theft offence, ensuring a fair and balanced outcome. ✔️
Officers arrested a suspect on suspicion of sexual assault, ensuring this serious matter is being handled robustly. 🚨
Another male was arrested on suspicion of ABH and possession of Class A drugs, helping us keep harmful behaviour off our streets. ⚖️
We joined Oxford Brookes University security for two events raising awareness around drink spiking, supporting student safety and wellbeing. 🏫
Our Have Your Say event at Costa Coffee on London Road gave us the chance to meet residents, hear concerns, and enjoy a cup of something warm while doing so. ☕
A knife was recovered and removed from the streets — a small item that makes a big difference to community safety. 🔪➡️🚫
One of our PCSOs apprehended a burglary suspect while awaiting officers to arrive, showing once again how vital and capable our PCSOs are. 💪
We went live with DNA tagging spray operationally for the first time, adding another effective tool to help identify offenders. 🧬
We also dealt with parking issues at Windmill School, helping keep children, staff and parents safe during busy periods. 🚸
And to finish the week, another Sur‑ron attempted to make off from officers this evening. The rider tried his luck on foot but didn’t get far. He was arrested for driving and drug offences, and his bike was recovered. He remains in custody. 🛑
We look forward to another week of disrupting crime and bringing offenders to justice. Please continue to share your community concerns — we’re here and ready to help! 💬 | ||
